Weekly Summary #1

   Posted by: jonan    in F.O.G.

This week the SVN hasn’t seen much changes but we’ve finally added our media so we’ll soon start making a guide to compile F.O.G. from the SVN.

So, what have we been doing with so little SVN activity?.
Lots. The problem is most of the time we’ve been doing tests.
We’ve been trying to integrate Caelum (strange error stoped us from being successful) and PagedGeometry (we don’t have vegetation media yet and it added difficulty to the compilation and execution), we’ve done lots of progress in the GUI interface (some of which have made their way to the SVN), but again, be need to design the menus and widgets before we can show you anything, and we’ve added simple enemies that can walk between any number of given points and go towards the player when he gets to close (I don’t really know why this isn’t in the SVN already).
But not all the work is in the code side. We’ve also made quite good concept art that you can see in our images gallery and some concept music tracks we’ll show you as soon as we can.

I think that’s all for our first weekly summary, we’ll try to write one every Sunday to keep you informed.

We finally have something to show you!

Just simple physics, but what do you expect with only ten days of development? ;-)

History

   Posted by: jonan    in F.O.G.

The truth is I’m not really sure of how did the idea behind F.O.G. came to be. It all happened one day that we where talking about games and I don’t know how, we ended up talking of how would we like our own game to be.

From the beginning the most important things for us were the movement freedom, with lots of combos, attacks and special movements, the size of the sceneries, we want them to look like real towns or cities through which you can do whatever you want and especially the story.

We already had the idea, but for one thing or another, the development never started. Fortunately a few months ago we saw that the III Concurso Universitario de Software libre was about to start so we decided to get serious. Now we’re ready to face the journey ahead of us and soon enough, make you face the journey we want to create for you.

One Week Later

   Posted by: jonan    in Admin

After one week of development their are quite a few things to tell. The truth is that we wanted to write some posts explaining more things about the project, but we’ll try it this week if we have time.

Unfortunately what’s taken most of our time hasn’t been development it self but setting up the server, blog, forum etc. and even though it’s not yet finished you can already take a look at it and know what it will look like. Nevertheless, there’s also been some activity in the SVN and we will soon be able to show some screenshots.

And that’s enough for today, tomorrow more. Lets see if we can start with more technical stuff and short out the projects ideas.

The Beginning

   Posted by: jonan    in CUSL

The III Concurso Universitario de Software Libre (CUSL), a Spanish university contest, started yesterday and F.O.G. is one of the approved projects.

So, ¿what is F.O.G.?
F.O.G. is a free (GPLv3) action game in 3D with big sceneries and lots of movement freedom set in the medieval age with some fantasy aspects.

We’ve just started so it’ll take some time for the game to be similar to the description but we’re focused on our objective and we’re pretty much motivated.

Right now their are lots of things to organize before we can begin serious development so I wont keep on talking, but we’ll inform regularly.
